This is a rare opportunity to hear from the charity Hand in Hand for Syria who have been providing humanitarian aid to those in Syria since the conflict began. Please do not forget to book your free ticket for 25th November.
Having had the privilege of going with them to help distribute aid to the camps inside Syria, I would like to personally invite you to join us for what will be a significant and insightful time of sharing how we can best pray and offer practical support.
Hand in Hand: Humanitarian aid for Syrians most at risk
Our teams on the ground in Syria take emergency aid directly to those living under threat and trying to survive in extreme conditions. Besides saving lives and relieving suffering, we help people to stay in Syria instead of fleeing to another country. We provide food and clothing, water and sanitation, and crucial medical aid in a country whose health service has been shattered when it is most urgently needed.
These are the latest figures from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs:
- 12.2 Million people are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance inside Syria.
- 4.1 million people have become refugees in neighbouring countries.
- 7.6 million people are internally displaced in the country.
According to the UN, over 220,000 people had been killed by January 2015.
Our St Katharine’s Day Event:
Light refreshments will be served. The evening will conclude with a sung recital by Paul Thomas Walsh and Nick Bland, including pieces by Handel, Scarlatti and Schubert.
